MATHEMATICS
FOUR FUNDAMENTAL OPERATIONS
MAIN POINTS
Positive integers:+1,+2,+3,+4...….
Whole numbers;0,+1,+2,+3,+4.....
Negative numbers:-1,-2,-3,-4.....
Integers:
…-3,-2,-1,0,+1,+2,+3....
Rational numbers : The group(set) of numbers containing all the integers and fractions.
Counting numbers; Positive integers or whole numbers except zero.
Absolute value: The value of its magnitude without sign of a number.
Laws of addition: When the numbers are of the same sign, find the sum of their magnitudes and put the common sign. When the numbers are opposite in sign, find the difference of their magnitudes and put the sign of the number with greater magnitude.
Additive inverse: When the sum of the two numbers is zero, each number is called the additive inverse of the other.
Subtraction: If we subtract a number from another number, we add the additive inverse of the subtracting number to the first number.in short, to subtract, add the additive inverse.
BODMAS
BODMAS represents the order of different mathematical operations.
Do first in the bracket. Next do the operations in the order division, multiplication, addition and subtraction.
O-(OF)
D-Division
M-Multiplication
A-Addition
S-Subtraction
Multiplication
Product of two numbers of the same sign is always positive(+)
Product of two numbers of opposite sign is always negative(-)
Division
Quotient of two numbers of same sign is always positive(+)
Quotient of two numbers of opposite sign is always negative(-)
